Microsoft Word 1.05

This archive is based on an 800k disk image downloaded from the Mac Garden abandonware site (macintoshgarden.org) on January 20, 2020 originally uploaded on Dec 27, 2013 by user dwheeless.

Description of the source image by the original uploader:
"After much searching I managed to find the elusive Microsoft Word 1.05. The file included here is a .dsk image of the original disk, which also includes the invisible and protected file that is used for verifying you have an original disk. If you copy this version of Word to another disk and launch it from there you will be prompted to insert this floppy image so it can check for the file. However, you can boot from this disk and launch Word without any problems using Mini vMac.

In addition, Copy II HD will successfully move the files to a hard drive in MinivMac (tested using version 7.0 )."

The source image was .dsk format compressed into a zip archive "Microsoft Word 1.05.dsk"
That source zip file is contained in this archive.

To create this archive, I created a blank 800k .img disk image with Disk Copy 6.3.3 on a Wallstreet G3. I then mounted the source image ("Microsoft Word 1.05.dsk") in Mini vMac on my Mac Mini and used the Copy II HD utility to copy it to the blank .img I had created. As part of the process, I manually removed some files on the source image that I believe to be later additions and reorganized the icons to match other Microsoft applications of the time (in particular, a Microsoft File original master).

I also scanned the contents with Disinfectant 3.7.1. They came up clean.

I then took that .img file back to the Wallstreet G3 and created four final images: locked and unlocked Disk Copy 6.3.3 images (.imgs in separate folders), a Disk Copy 4.2 image (.image), and a DiskDup+ 2.9.2 image (.ddim). I then compressed all four images with DropStuff 5.5 into .sit and .sit.hqx archives.

The end result is a working Microsoft Word 1.05 master disk in multiple common formats that reasonably approximates an original disk.

Of note is that the Microsoft Word application file shows a modified date of 2013.
